“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” ― Jane Goodall
We must accept that on this planet everything is connected and losing one specie has a direct impact on the rest of the living creatures of the planet including us! This is what Dr. Jane Godall, famous for spending most of her life studying chimpanzees, calls The Web of Life. Today, more than ever it’s really important to reflect on our impact on our planet. According to the United Nations by 2050 the estimated number of people on earth will reach up to 9.8 billion!
But what does this mean? As more people are living on the planet, we require more and more resources, more consumption and this will create more waste. We must learn that in nature there is not such a thing as waste, hence we are trying to move towards biomimicry or better understood as learning from wildlife to create solutions to human challenges. In other words to imitate and use nature’s knowledge to solve problems! It is also important to start thinking about in a circular economy; to produce things with no end of life, but to use again and again. Every little action count, every time we shop, we eat, we commute, we consume, we are making decisions that affect the wildlife, the ecosystems, and people; and out there in every corner of our beautiful planet, there are people protecting the wildlife in their communities and who understand that we must acknowledge the importance of every specie.
So we must connect in every way we can to understand wildlife, starting in our community. We strongly believe that young people are the future and now more than ever is a great time to be creative, it does not really your age or the place where you live it is always a good moment to start thinking about wildlife and to connect with nature and with people to create solutions that protect wildlife.
We invite you to be curious, immerse yourself in an event to celebrate wildlife and discuss exotic animal trading, habitat conservation, specie conservation and co-existing with wildlife. Let’s celebrate the wildlife!
